What do you practice?
Which habits do you repeat regularly?
What do you do every day or every week?
Do you run around self-confidently taking on challenges that let you grow? Or do you play victim by moaning about heavy duties from your boss, friends and family?
Do you manage a bearable amount of work? Or do you work so much that you seldomly get to spend relaxed time with your friends or your partner and that you seldomly kiss your kids good night?
Do you encourage others to believe in themselves? Do you challenge others to grow and be better in the future? Or do you buy people’s excuses and reasons for not going into action to change their lives.
What do you practice?
A few days ago I received this video via what’s app: A 12 year old boy is asking the question „What do you practice?“
Two minute video with this fundamental question:
I was stunned by two things when I first saw it: First, the crystal clear message and second, by this 12 year old boy who delivered this crystal clear message. Observe the clearness of his message and the breaks he uses to let us digest his message! Either this guy is a super talented speaker at the age of 12 years or he has a great teacher. Or both.
What do YOU practice?
What comes to your mind spontaneously when you hear this question?
What are your habits that take your life to the next level?
What are your habits that give your life meaning?
Probably this is more than playing computer games, watching TV or reading the daily news online on crime, bad politicians and war.
Which of your habits give your life meaning?
Which of your habits will bring a lasting smile to your face when you look back to your life at the age of 85?
How well do you take care of your relationships?
How much do you enrich the lives of others – your friends, your family members and your partner? And also, your colleagues, your team members and your customers?
How well do you treat yourself? Do you take care of your body with valuable nutrition, plenty of sport and mind growing input? Do you take enough time to rest?
Is your life full of meaning? Full of meaning to you?
Does your life satisfy YOU, I mean satisfy yourself, not the society, your parents, your partner or your bank account?
If not: What would be one thing to add or change in your life?
Which one aspect would give your life a valuable twist? What do you need to do in order to make this twist happen?
If you are not familiar with the concept of the „Big Five for Life“ I strongly encourage you to read the bestselling book „Big Five for Life“ by John Strelecky. In blog post 201 you can read the essence of this book in six minutes.
Or watch the author himself here: the “Big Five for Life” in 30 minutes:
Make your life valuable for yourself, your loved ones and this planet earth.
This blog is called “Führen wie ein Löwe”, in English “Lead like a Lion”, because the lion is focusing on his most important tasks. My key sentence for every leader is: Hunt like a lion. But a strong lion does not hunt alone … even better … the lion does not hunt at all. The lioness is hunting the antelope, because it is lighter, faster and more agile than the strong, heavy lion. The lion is focusing on his most important tasks. One of those is to defend the hunting ground for the pride of lions – the basis for the survival of the pack.
What do you focus? What do you let go? Be a leader like the lion in the pride of lions and focus on the essential for YOU.
To finish I recommend two options:
Number one is to spend the next five minutes in silence and digest and reflect upon the questions you just heard. What needs more focus in your life?
Number two is to listen to this podcast again and listen with your heart wide open.
Or both.
I wish you all the best. Live a life that is putting a big smile to your face every day at the age of 85.
All the best,
Markus Jotzo
